Memories which seemed to have been forgotten emerge to daylight thanks to a film by Luis Trenker. After years abroad, and with a distance to his homeland which is not only geographical, Andreas Pichler experiences a new interest for the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Only now, far away from adolescent rebellion, the histories from the past merge together with his own experiences to form an harmonic image. The difference between the public perception of the South Tyrolean mountain world and the personal experience of the narrowness in the villages now form an additional facet of the home country’s image. Now, the “Drei Zinnen”, the most popular tourist destination, don’t symbolize a scaring monument of mass tourism anymore, but are turned into a fascinating and highly acknowledged part of the own history.
