“Eine Bergliebe”
Alpine Documentation (), Julia Seidl (Deutschland) 43 min
When Barbara Hirschbichler read the diaries of her father for the first time when she was 14 years old they were touching moments. He was a famous mountaineer from Berchtesgaden, who fell to his death in 1959 when he attempted the first ascent of the Badura I (7,785 m) in the Karakorum, only a few days before the birth of his daughter. Today, Barbara is a school teacher in Berchtesgaden and one of the best mountaineers in the world. In Germany she organises fund raisings for a poor mountain region in the Karakorum. There she also met the great love of her life, the Pakistan porter Rasool. In the meantime, they have married and they now live partly in Rasool’s village in Pakistan, partly in Berchtesgaden.
