Adventure “L’Abisso (Der Abgrund)”

Adventure (), Alessandro Anderloni (Italien) 75 min

The “Spluga della Preta” is an impressive, harsh and single-entrance cave situated in in the foothills of the Alps. It was explored for the first time in 1925 and until 1953 was considered the deepest in the world. The “Spluga della Preta” is more than any other cave related to the history of speleology. Eighty years after the first exploration, an expedition sets off to search for new passages, following the air drafts that blow towards the Val d’Adige. In autumn 2004, a group of potholers discovered a new passage in the cave. After two years of shooting and countless descents into the cave, this film shows for the first time on video the Sala Nera, (Black Hall) 800 meters below the earth’s surface, at the bottom of one of the most mysterious depths, which could be the “end of the world”.
