In the beginning, the German reptile expert Paul Hien and the biologist Markus Schmidbauer only wanted to find out more about rumours and legends of a mystic giant dragon living in the east of the Indonesian island Flores. Deep in the jungle, they finally meet it: a yellow approximately three metre long “dragon”, an animal which has never been mentioned in any literature before. How was it possible that such a big and extraordinarily coloured predator could live for such a long time hidden from the world?
