“The Magic Mountain”
Alpine and foreign cultures (), Pat & Baiba Morrow (Kanada) 50 min
Cynthia Hunt is the founder of HEALTH (Health, Environment and Literacy in the Himalayas). The foundation helps the Himalayan population in western Tibet in the field of health and culture. She leads us to this particularly poor and arid mountain region, also called Ladakh. Climbing these mountains, Cynthia visits the villages and tries to instruct and educate illiterate women. The film documents Cynthia’s and other women’s unbelievable trip along a dangerously frozen river, which is the only route to reach the valley and the capital town Leh. There she will raise funds to continue the literacy mission of these forgotten people.
