“Jagd am Yukon”
Adventure (), Stefan Pannen (Deutschland) 43 min
Gold and furs, Klondike and Yukon, wolves and bears – words which conjure up a yearning. Maybe, deep in one’s inner self, everyone of us is a lonesome cross country runner, a track reader, a scout, a bear killer and a trap-setter – in short: a secret trapper. More than 20 years ago, the German Frank Müller left his home country to realise his dream and to learn how to set traps. For eight years he has run his own “trapline” in a huge hunting ground. This film does not only show the everyday life of the trapper – who captures above all sables – but it also follows the tracks of the fur. It explains the importance of setting traps for the inhabitants of the Yukon and leads to a master tanner in an Indian tipi.
