“Monte San Giorgio - Berg der Saurier”
Nature and Environment (), Werner Zeindler (Deutschland) 15 min
In the border area between Switzerland and Italy, above the Lugano Lake, towers a huge pyramid, the 1.096 m high Monte San Giorgio. The richness and the variety of the fossilized remains of an early life are unique in the world. The first of the more than two hundred billion year old fossils of dinosaurs were found in the first half of the 20th century. However, the potential of the Monte San Giorgio has not yet been exhausted. Could new findings fill the gaps in our knowledge of the development of life and could they be witnesses for the eternity or finiteness of life on earth?
