Thomas Behrend (Deutschland) - 45 min

Wednesday, 12. Nov. 2008 from 15:00 in Schubertkino

The Arctic is one of the most hostile regions on earth. Hidden in a deep ice cave, a female ice bear is waiting for the winter to end. She has given birth to her offspring: triplets! – which is quite rare. After having spent more than five months in the cave, the babies will see the light of day for the first time. Also the babies of the walrus and the ringed seal have to learn how to survive in this hostile nature. Their most dangerous enemy is the ice bear. With touching and rare shots, this film reports about the life of the three little ice bear babies and a new-born ringed seal. Brand new camera technologies allow an insight into an underwater world which has hardly been seen before: into the world of the prehistoric ice shark and of the beluga whales.
