It is considered as one of the most beautiful river landscapes on earth – the Wachau. Beside the National Park Donauauen, this is the only Austrian section of the Danube, where the river flows freely. Rocky narrowings alternate with smoothly inclined wide valleys. This extraordinarily rich landscape is marked by the remains of alluvial forests, dry lawns, original forests on slopes, and a pattern of vineyards and orchards. All of them offer living space for numerous, sometimes very rare species of fauna and flora. Throughout the seasons, this film demonstrates that this unique valley is not only a Cultural World Heritage but also a true nature jewel.
