The 16 year-old nomad Sergei lives in the north eastern steppes of Siberia, and despite his young age his father has decided to make him the new herdsman of the reindeer herd. He has to lead the herd of three thousand animals to the higher planes and protect them against wolf attacks. One day, however, he encounters a wolf mother with four kids and he doesn’t have the heart to shoot them. As time goes by, he becomes familiar to the wolves, and only his great love Nastazia knows his secret. Then, some members of the clan discover the wolf traces in the snow…
