Gaston Rébuffat is a legend of French mountaineering and he has earned his fame by many first ascents undertaken in the 1940ies and 50ies. Furthermore he has presented the climbing sport to a wide public with his thrilling books, capturing films and impressive pictures. He emphasized the beauty, the magic and the sublimity of the mountain world; he never showed it as a dangerous, hostile and for humans inaccessible region. Thus, he created his own, particular style. What is still remaining of Gaston, 25 years after his death?
