365 Days under Antarctic Ice

Djamel Tahi (Frankreich) - 52 min

Friday, 12. Nov. 2010 from 15:30 Kammermusiksaal

In 1957 three men started occupying the Charcot Station, built near the South magnetic pole and located 320 km from the coast: Jacques Dubois, a meteorologist, Roland Schlich, a geophysicist, and Claude Lorius, a glaciologist. For one whole year, these three scientists would live in an aluminum hut only 24 m2 in size, buried under the ice, without any possibility of relief! Dubois, Schlich and Lorius wintered there from 1957 to 1958 and filmed everything in color. Today, two of them remember this extreme adventure... Step in the footsteps of these pioneers and be part of Antarctic exploration, as you experience exclusive archival footage brought back from the cold!
