In the animal world of the Gran Paradiso, one has not seen wolves for more than one hundred years. This ancestor of our dogs had been wiped out in large parts of Europe. However, in Italy, the wolf managed to survive thanks to the remote ridges of the Apennine Mountains. Strong young wolves set off, looking for new territories. On the foot of the Gran Paradiso, one of the numerous 4.000m peaks in the remote Aosta valley, two wolves form a new pack. Both of them originate from two different packs in the Piemont, they had to wander more than 300 kilometres before they were able to find an ideal territory: the national park Gran Paradiso – a paradise for wolves. However, what are the consequences for the fauna, and how do humans deal with this feared predator?
