Hölloch - Geschichten aus der Unterwelt

The „Gottesacker“ (God’s Acre) is a karst landscape in the Allgäu, criss-crossed by huge crevices, pits and caves, near the border to the Kleines Walsertal. From there, a 90 metre deep shaft leads into the mysterious and dangerous underworld of the Hölloch. More than 100 years ago, a first man dared to penetrate into the unknown depth, sitting on a log. Since then, more than eleven kilometres of the cave labyrinth have been explored and surveyed. The film links the thrilling history of the Hölloch’s exploration with the newest discoveries and also demonstrates the strenuous work of filming in the dark.
