Adventure “Tom Crean – Antarctica’s forgotten Hero”

Adventure (), John Murray (Irland) 53 min

Irishman Tom Crean was one of the most important and – at the same time – one of the most modest heroes in the history of the exploration of the Antarctic. He participated in three of the four most important Antarctic expeditions, he survived Scotts tragic attempt to reach the South Pole first, and, together with Shackleton, the greatest rival of Scott at that time, he was the most important man on the team of the “Endurance”. He survived both expedition leaders and has been described by such famous persons as the leading polar explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the biographer Michael Smith and Reinhold Messner. Without any journalistic pomp, this documentary focuses on Crean as a human being and allows the audience feel his true personality.
