“Höhenkoller im Himalaya”
Alpine Documentation (), Gunther Hainke (Deutschland/Germany) 29 min
This film describes the different symptoms of altitude sickness. For this purpose, an expedition to the Cho Oyu (8,210 m) has been documented. What happens in and to our body during the acclimatization to high altitudes is depicted in high-standard graphic presentations and animations. Famous mountaineers such as Peter Habeler and Professor Oswald Oelz talk about their experiences, and a group of scientists affiliated with Professor Klaus Mees from Munich explores the human body at different altitudes with the most modern instruments and receives surprising results. This film shows which physical and spiritual limits can be pushed by men on the top of the world and describes the dramatic consequences.
