“Herdsmen”
Alpine and foreign cultures (), Chen Jianjun (USA) 88 min
A small film crew tracks the migrations of a Kazak family in Xinjiang, China’s western-most province, all year round. Unlike other people of Kazakstan, who grew into a nation of farmers and workers, the Kazaks remain a minority in China who retained their nomadic life and a close bond with nature. The filmmakers’ four-year-long effort shooting the film is a contribution to document their countries ethnic diversity.
