At 60 years of age Reinhold Messner looks back over his legendary career with surprising candour and self revelation. The film shows him from his early days as a young climber to his nowadays relations to his beloved mountains, and includes excerpts from Werner Herzog’s 1984 film with Messner, and Leo Dickinson’s film of Messner and Habeler’s 1978 ascent of Everest, and shows Messner as a person with deep relations to his southtyrolian homeland.
