Nature and Environment “Climate on the Edge”

Nature and Environment (), Alain Belhumeur (Kanada/Canada) 52 min

The Artic, on the front line of climate change, is sending us a clear and urgent message: global warming is having a serious impact on the planet. Through interviews with leading experts, the film takes an objective look at an issue critical to our very survival. The French climatologist Jean Jouzel, the oceanographer Eddy Carmack, the computer modelling expert Francis Zwiers and glaciologist Fritz Koerner emphasize that even the slightest change in temperature in one part of the world can have an impact on the entire planet. Especially in the Artic people are already suffering the effects of the climate change. The survival of the Artic ecosystem is at risk. Ice, and the microorganisms that survive beneath it, form the base of the Artic food chain. The question is: Can we afford to lose this important ecological resource?
