The greatest Polar adventure never told. In 1931, adventurer Sir Hubert Wilkins attempted to take an ancient submarine to the North Pole. His crew of 20, which included leading scientists and specialists in submarines, was determinate to be the first to cross the Arctic ocean. Their sponsor was media magnate William Randolph Hearst who billed it as “the greatest adventure in history”. What unfolded was an dramatic saga of intrigue, sabotage and disaster which so embarrassed Hearst that he wiped it from the pages of history. But the amazing film of the journey survived.
