Nature and Environment “Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park”

Nature and Environment (), Werner Meyer 15 min

The holy mountain of Australia’s aborigines was named “Ayers Rock” in 1871. In the middle of a hostile region, the red sandstone monolith emerges and rises to a height of 348 meters. It seems incredible that the major part of the mountain is underground. For the aborigines, this mountain is deeply rooted in the myth of creation. The “Spirit Ancestors”, half human and half animal, formed the landscape and determined the laws which are still valid today for the “Anangu”.
