Nature and Environment “Head-Smashed-In, Abgrund der toten Bisons”

Nature and Environment (), Goggo Gensch 15 min

The “precipice of the bisons falling to their deaths” is a reminder of the period when the native inhabitants in America had to share their lands with the bison. This is one of the oldest and best preserved hunting grounds in North America. During the historic bison hunt, the camouflaged hunters tried to turn the animals in a certain direction, from where they could only flee toward the cliff. As soon as the animals came close to the cliffs, they were frightened by more Native Americans and fell from the crest to their deaths.
