Kamera Alpin in Gold 2007

The price for the best film in the category “Alpine und Foreign Cultures” goes to “Becoming a Woman in Zanskar”. Jean.Michel Corillion’s gripping images and sensitive direction gives an intimate insight into the life and destiny of two girls in the remote kingdom of Zanskar in the Northern Himalayas. The only two alternatives for them are getting married or becoming a nun. Rarely has there been a more involving and personal portrayal of the every day life in a culture that is almost totally unknown to us.
