| Wolfgang Hackl was born in 1949 in Vienna and in 1972 he obtained his diploma for camera and direction at the Viennese Film Academy. He has worked for the Austrian Television ORF as a camera man for news broadcasting and for several magazines. In 1980, Wolfgang Hackl founded the A1 Plus Filmproduktion GmbH. In addition to video clips, commercial spots, school and education films, Wolfgang Hackl also produces numerous documentaries for the broadcasting companies ORF, 3sat, ARD, ZDF and arte (among others: „China - Mao's Erben“, „Schatten über Afrika“, „Israel-Safed“, „Mongolei“). He has worked on the documentaries „Schnitzler Tagebücher - Neue Lippen, ein neuer Seufzer“ and „Stefan Zweig – der heimatlose Europäer“ as well as the documentary series „Ferne Nachbarn“ (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Bosnien, Uganda, Namibia, Burkina Faso). With his two films „Spuren im Sand – Momentkunst in der tunesischen Sahara“ and „Gesprengte Berge - Getrennte Herzen“, Wolfgang Hackl participated in the International Mountain & Adventure Filmfestival Graz 2006. At the moment he is working on his films „Caves of Oman“ and „Das afrikanische Jahrzehnt“. |

Veikka Gustafsson

| The professional mountaineer Veikka Gustafsson was born in 1968 in Espoo (Finland). He started his career as a mountaineer in 1986 when he climbed the Mont Blanc. Since then, he has reached the summits of 11 eightthousand metre peaks, amongst which count the K2, Nanga Parbat, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, and Cho Oyu. Other challenges were his ascents to the highest mountains in the Antarctic. In 1993, he was the first Finnish man to reach the summit of Mount Everest, which he climbed in 1997 for a second time, without using oxygen. Veikka Gustafsson participated as a protagonist in the shootings of the film „Working Title Everest“ in 2004, which was the base for David Breashears’ film „Remnants of Everest: The 1996 Tragedy“. Veikka Gustafsson was also actor in the film about Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner’s ascent on the Kanchenjunga in 2006. |

Dr. Thomas Gayda

| Born in 1960 in Salzburg, he is a writer, music dramatic adviser and cultural manager. Dr. Thomas Gayda is specialized in exploring the musical works of contemporary composers of the 20th century who have been banished or forgotten. Within the framework of his work with film music he also re-discovered the music by Paul Hindemith for the mountain film „Im Kampf mit dem Berg“ (director: Arnold Fanck,1920). In 2000, the film with this music was shown in Austria for the very first time at the mountain film festival which was founded by Gayda , the „Walser Filmgewitter“ in the Kleinwalsertal. In 2002, Thomas Gayda worked for the mountain film festival „Altitude“ by the Austrian Kulturforum in London, where he rediscovered the English version of the Luis Trenker Film „Der Berg ruft“. In 2005 and 2006, Gayda was a member of the jury at the mountain film festival of Tegernsee. |

Dieter Pochlatko

| Dieter Pochlatko was born in 1943 in Graz and studied German and Romanist languages. As a cameraman he joined his father’s film company “epo-film” in 1967, where he has been the managing partner since 1978. In 1977, he took over the cinema Rechbauerkino in Graz, which has ever since developed into an important cultural institution known as the „Filmzentrum im Rechbauerkino“. Since 1992, Dieter Pochlatko has been the director of the section audio-visions and film industry of the Styrian Economic Chamber, and since 2005, he has been a board member of V.A.M. With his company “epo-film international” Dieter Pochlatko produces high level programmes for cinema and TV in the fields of feature films (e.g. „Der geköpfte Hahn“, „Klimt“), TV-movies (among others for the series „Tatort“, or „Franz Fuchs – Ein Patriot“) as well as nature and documentary films (e.g. „Napoli Dogs“, „Azorenhoch und Islandtief – Europa unter Druck“) and films for the industry. He has been awarded many prices and distinctions for numerous productions. In 2006 he was awarded the „Große Ehrenzeichen“ („the great honorary medal”) of the Province of Styria. |

Jens-Uwe Heins

| Jens-Uwe Heins, born in 1961, has been inspired by nature ever since he was a child. As a passionate ornithologist, he studied ecology and after finishing university he worked in the field of nature protection and was a consulter for the Turkish project group for national parks, before he was hit by the “television fever”. Numerous film expeditions led him to North America, Africa, Asia and to every corner in Europe. Jens-Uwe Heins works as a free writer and camera man for the editorial office “Tiere und Natur” (animals and nature) at the Bavarian Broadcasting, and, in the last year, he was responsible for the German TV ARD/BR television series “Nashorn, Zebra & Co” (40 episodes), together with his colleagues Felix Heidinger and Udo Zimmermann. |
