“At the earth confines”

Sebastián Alvaro (Spanien) - 80 min

Thursday, 08. Nov. 2007 from 14:00 in Congress Graz - Blauer Salon

“The Antarctic represents the beauty of the world, the silence of the world and the loneliness of the world. We didn’t want to conquer more territories; we have been conquered by them”, Sebastián Alvaro tells. During 63 days, the team travels more than 4.500 kilometres in Antarctica to get to the hidden secrets of the bigger ice mass. The members of the expedition carry ten kites with sizes of 5 to 60 square metres that could reach a height of 75 to 300 metres. Fixed to the self-designed catamaran by a pulley system, this special “kite engine” allows them to reach the remotest place on Earth, where no-one has ever set his foot on: the South Pole of the inaccessibility.
