“Leben mit dem Jaguar”

Friday, 13. Nov. 2009 from 13:00 Congress Graz - Blauer Salon

For a long time already, the third-largest cat of the world has had to struggle for survival on the American continent. Today, there are still some 8,000 jaguars in the Brasilian Pantanal, a huge mosaic landscape made of rivers, forests and savannas which depending on the season are sometimes flooded. However, even in the Pantanal, the conflict between the protection of species and cattle-breeding is smouldering. Even nowadays many cattle owners secretly poison the jaguars on their Fazendas. Explorers try to pursue some jaguars with the help of transmitters tied around the animals’ necks.
