“Wildes Russland - Der Kaukasus”

Tom Synnatzschke (Deutschland) - 44 min

Saturday, 14. Nov. 2009 from 08:00 Grüner Saal

The series „Wildes Russland“ shows for the first time the nature of this huge country with its original landscapes and its incomparable fauna and flora. Situated between Europe and Asia, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, enormous mountain peaks rise up to over 5,000 metres into the sky. The Caucasus is a world full of diversity and contrasts, where sand deserts meet icy glaciers, where bubbling mud volcanoes meet dense forests, and where sandstorms change with avalanches. In the Caucasus the last highland bisons live, as do the Saiga antelopes with their billowed trunk-noses, and the long eared hedge-hog with its long legs.
