Forty years after Neil Armstrong’s historic footsteps, mankind is about to return to the Moon with an ambitious goal: to build a permanent outpost. During the summer of 2008, astronauts staged a dress rehearsal of their lunar mission on Devon Island near the North Pole. The crew of 30 men and women set up camp on the rim of Haughton Impact Crater - a 12 mile-wide basin blasted out of the deserted island by a colliding asteroid. This is the place where dreams come true, where astronauts, engineers and scientists test their equipment and learn their roles for the upcoming lunar landing.
