Renaud Van Der Meeren is a photographer and a paramotor pilot. This time, he travels to Mauritius with his motorized paraglide, in order to take pictures of men and landscapes from the air. He flies in low heights across fields of sugar cane, but he also portrays dream marriages in luxury hotels or dives to underwater wracks. Also Renaud’s encounter with the kite surf world champion Nico Kux is pure adventure – as is his whole life. When taking spectacular pictures from high above the lagoon Renaud has to struggle against strong winds and against the danger of getting his paraglide tangled with Nico’s kite. However, his next motif is far less dangerous: Sidah is the oldest fisher woman of the island, probably even of the world. Renaud had discovered her in her pirogue from the air. “The great advantage of a paramotor is”, he says, ”that you can fly slowly and so low that you can communicate directly with humans.”
