The northern latitude degree runs directly across the middle of Europe. An expedition travels along this latitude, across continents and oceans. We can watch nature and landscapes which couldn’t be more different. The expedition leave the European virgin forests in direction east, and soon immerge into completely foreign landscapes: into the steppes and half deserts of Asia, with their herd animals, such as the saiga antelopes, the onagers, the Altai wapiti, and the Przewalski’s horses. The Russian peninsula Kamchatka is marked by its volcanoes, and for several weeks, the film team live among the biggest land predators on our planet: the Kamchatka bears.
