Professor Volker Sommer is one of the most reputable and renown scientist of our days. As a regular guest in tv-talk shows he often causes a stir with his provoking thesis such as “there is no scientific reason to distinguish between men and primates”. The scientist who has dedicated his life to the primates requires personal rights for great apes. This film follows him into the wilderness of West Africa, into a mountain jungle in Nigeria, where Sommer is researching a newly discovered rare species of chimpanzees, who have rarely been encountered by humans so far.
