- Ragnar Axelsson, called Rax, is the most celebrated photographer in Iceland. His photographs are a living document of the dying cultures of the far northern, Icelandic farmers, fishermen and the hunters of Greenland. Rax spent his childhood on an isolated farm in Iceland. Already as a child he was enraptured by the interactions between man and nature. He could well have been a hunter himself, he stalks his images and strikes in the opportune moment. A celebration of the photographer and his subjects, “Last Days of the Arctic” is an elegy for a disappearing landscape and the people who inhabit it.
