- This is the story of America’s first mountain adventure race which took place in 1911 but it only ran for three years. The race pit a stripped-down special steam train against modified "Model T" race cars and men against a 3,286 m volcanic glacial peak, Mount Baker, in Washington State. The grueling 28 to 32 mile marathon race to the summit was fraught with intrepid dangers including crevasses, blizzard conditions, and white-outs. Some competitors even died during the race. The film reveals a look back at the accomplishments of the few athletes who were able to finish the endurance race.
