- In 1909, an Italian expedition sets off to explore the glaciers of the Karakorum. The photographer Vittorio Sella is a participant, and he takes pictures of the spectacular mountainous world around the K2, and he shoots a 40 minute long black and white film with his 35 mm camera which had been carried there. More than 100 years later, the photographer Fabiano Ventura will follow Sella’s footsteps. He uses the same camera positions in order to “measure” the eternal ice, and after his return, he delivers significant results for the modern climate research. His pictures offer new, until now, unknown possibilities for scientists to explore and to compare the glacial systems.
