Description
In spring 1930, the nature explorer Alfred Wegener, who had made his mark for eternity thanks to his epoch making theory about the continental drift, set off for his third Greenland expedition. Together with his team, his intention was to collect measurement data from the atmosphere in the altitude and from the inland ice in the depth throughout one year, which was the start of modern climate research. Although this undertaking had been planned meticulously, the exploration of the “ice centre” became a footrace between life and death. Wegener never came back.
