- The Alpine society „Gipfelstürmer“ (Summit Chaser) is an association of passionate mountaineers in Innsbruck which has been existing now for 100 years. The ideas of the protagonists are revealed at different locations of demanding climbing tours, such as the Kalkkögel, Karwendel, Waidringer Steinplatte and the Dolomites. For example, Reinhold Messner remembers his first expedition to the Yerupaja in the Andes, Gert Judmaier recalls his rescue operation on the Mt. Kenya in 1970, Raimund Margreiter his adventure on the Mt. Everest, and Alexander Huber refers to the outstanding climbing performances of the senior summiteer Hermann Buhl. One of today’s “summit chasers” is climbing once again in the north face of the Große Zinne, on his 70th birthday.
