Description
For several years, the German biologist Lydia Möcklinghoff has been tracing the giant anteater in Brazil. This unusual and charismatic animal is one of the last “aboriginal animals” of South America. Only very few specialists of the neotropic fauna managed to survive the exchange of animal species between North and South America when, approximately one billion years ago, the land bridge of Panama had been created. The research work leads the scientist into the Pantanal, the biggest seasonal alluvium on earth. But will she manage to find the giant anteater in this lonesome wilderness, where huge parts of the landscape are often under water for months?
