- Empty houses, old people and a decreasing number of children; in the 1990s Guarda, a mountain village in the Lower Engadin was faced with this situation. To prevent the school from being closed, they demand people throughout Switzerland to move to and live in Guarda. Within five years, eight families started their simple lives in the mountains. They didn’t just come with their kids, they brought new ideas and lifestyles as well. This set the 130 soul-village in front of enormous challenges. Today, over 20 years later, scenarist Susanna Fanzun investigates if the integration succeeded. The film is a documentation about courage, idealism and the spirit of the 90’s. It’s also a film about the chance and the fears, which the novel brings along.
