Description
This film is about the Golden Age and the decline of the silver mining city Schladming, and of times when the Ennstal Valley was still a bastion of the Protestant Reformation. The film leads back to the beginnings of tourism, when rivers had to be regulated in order to be able to lay rails for trains which would allow urban families to come to the mountains for holidays. It shows mountains, on which later lifts were constructed which formed a base for the leisure time and climbing paradise in winter and summer. A paradise which not only offers high tourist qualities, but which succeeded also in developing into a sport organizer of a worldwide reputation. Pictures of a scarcity value give evidence of the groundbreaking pioneer spirit of these days, and some very different protagonists of our days give answers to the key question: how did the mountains mark humans and how did humans mark the mountains?
