- Englishman Doug Scott, born in 1941, is one of the most successful high altitude mountaineers ever. He has undertaken 45 expeditions to the highest mountains on earth, and has reached 40 summits. One half of them he climbed either on new routes or for the first time in Alpine style. Apart from his climb on Everest via the south west face, he has achieved all summits without oxygen bottles. The Seven Summits are as well listed in his climbing CV. He was awarded the “Piolet d’Or” for his life work. In this lecture he will speak about pioneer achievements in the Himalayas.
