Description
The largely unknown species of the Muriqui monkeys, also called the “gorillas of the new world“, live isolated in the rain forests of Brazil. This nearly extinguished species, which has been the focus of scientific exploration by Karen Stier for the last 20 years, shows very special behaviours. The many years of observation indicated that the Muriqui males, like the hippies, formed among the primates a male society without aggression and with deep peaceableness. The females, however, played a dominating role, thus making it important for the males to stay together…
