Description
Lecture by Günther Funke with following discussion Fear without the preparation for taking high risks leads to the thought of total security and often to the delusion of perfectionism everything, immediately, perfectly), which takes from life the leeway that would be necessary for its development. Preparation for and the fear of risk are polar opposites in an appropriately tension-filled relationship that will hopefully never have to be addressed. When this happens, however, the dynamics of life and development can be permanently changed, leading to a considerably dangerous potential. Thus the readiness to take high risks without considering and evaluating the reality of the fear can lead to a dangerous and risky negligence, which is much too often confused with courage. Often the consequence is an indifference towards one’s own life and the life of others. Many social tendencies increasingly support the drifting apart of these two meaningfully related poles. Mountaineering, in its variety, has been infected as well. How can one succeed in balancing the preparation for and the fear of taking high risks? What is essentially necessary for doing so? Where are the risks? Note from the festival: the themes and points of view are not necessarily shared by the festival organizers.
