Description
Three adventurers paddle 800 miles along the antarctic peninsula, from Esperanza to the Marguerite Bay. In this hostile but fascinating landscape, they have been challenged by bitter cold, orcanic storms, dense fogs, icebergs and largely ice-covered rocks on the shore as well as by the local animals. On a sailing yacht especially equipped for arctic conditions they reached their starting point via Ushuaia, travelling via Kap Horn and the Drake Passage to the most northern point of the peninsula. This is the almost unbelievable story on how the three in their special canoes managed to reach the inner antarctic circle within five weeks. The expedition yacht retrieved the three adventurers another 120 miles further south. In the South Pacific, on their way back, however, they had to struggle against catastrophic weather conditions and had to master enormous difficulties.
