Description
Wolfgang Güllich is an idol in the confined world of sports climbers, but he has also been admired on the screen by millions of people all over the world. As the double for Sylvester Stallone in the movie “Cliffhanger”, he hung with only one hand on a small rock ledge. Admired though unknown, the sport climber Güllich has impressed the whole world with his trailblazing sports achievements. The high standards that he set on the rocks of his homeland as well as on the big walls in the Karakorum and in Patagonia belong to Alpine history. In August 1992, he lost his life in a car accident. When he perished, so too did an idol with charisma and a friendly aura, that will never be forgotten.

Did the Gods really like Wolfgang Güllich? If so, why then had he to die so early? This movie shows in a quite sensitive way what he loved most in life: family, friends and pushing the limits in his sport. He was a very charismatic person and even a star in Hollywood. Until his tragic end he remained what he had always been - a very sympathetic rock-climber.
