- Polish mountaineers in the Himalayas have always been famous for their achievements during the winter months. Krysztof Wielicki, one of the rare persons who has climbed all 14 eight-thousand-meter peaks, was the leader of the Makalu expedition in 2000/2001 and belongs to this extraordinary group. He shows us the Himalayan Giant from its harshest side. First, they tried the south pillar as the most direct ascent, but the climbing passages were too exposed to tremendous storms. They then tried to reach the summit via alternate routes. This film is like a living diary which evaluates the elements of friendship that are greater than those of an alpine challenge.
