Description
In the province of Yunnan, in the south west of China, the rice farmers have cultivated their land in a most exceptional way. In order to run a complicated but highly efficient hydration system, they have built rice terraces up to an altitude of 1,500 metres. With fantastic landscape images, this documentary describes the change of seasons in this region. It tells about its inhabitants, the Hani, and their hard work to cultivate their land with the help of water buffaloes. It shows the sowing of the rice and the harvest which takes three months. It also reports about the life of the Hani, who live in their 200 year-old clay brick houses without running water, and about their rich culture and their animistic religion.
