Description
Dorje Sherpa is seven years old, lives in the small Nepalese village Bengka, and he wishes to see the highest mountains in the world. Together with his father and great-grandfather he sets off on a journey through fascinating landscapes, passing monasteries and villages with their festivals and special encounters and then the snow-capped peaks of the Nuptse, Lhotse or Ama Dablam. Finally, they reach the 5,656 m high Kala Patar. In a last ritual, they pray to the Gods for mercy and protection on Dorje’s journey to become a sherpa. This film does not only draw an intimate picture of a boy against the background of the barren but charming Himalaja region, but also gives an interesting and revealing insight into the culture of the sherpa people.
