- Description
- Dorje Sherpa is seven years old, lives in the small Nepalese village Bengka, and he wishes to see the highest mountains in the world. Together with his father and great-grandfather he sets off on a journey through fascinating landscapes, passing monasteries and villages with their festivals and special encounters and then the snow-capped peaks of the Nuptse, Lhotse or Ama Dablam. Finally, they reach the 5,656 m high Kala Patar. In a last ritual, they pray to the Gods for mercy and protection on Dorje’s journey to become a sherpa. This film does not only draw an intimate picture of a boy against the background of the barren but charming Himalaja region, but also gives an interesting and revealing insight into the culture of the sherpa people.
