In a modern winter resort, a parish priest tells the legend written by Adalbert Stifter: In spite of the hundred-year old fight between the villages of Gschaid and Millsdorf, the shoemaker Sebastian and Susanne fall in love. Their love is affected by stubborn prejudices: Susanne decides to return to their parents in Millsdorf, thus leaving not only a hostile atmosphere, but also her husband and two children, 11 and 13 years, Sanna and Konrad.
