Alpine and foreign cultures “Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion”

Alpine and foreign cultures (), Tom Peosay (USA) 104 min

The film brings audiences to the long-forbidden “rooftop of the world” with an unprecedented richness of imagery… from rarely-seen rituals in remote monasteries, to horse races with Khamba warriors; from brothels and slums in the holy city of Lhasa, to the magnificent Himalayan peaks still travelled by nomadic yak caravans. The dark secrets of Tibet´s recent past are powerfully chronicled through riveting personal stories and interviews never before assembled in one film.

Awards:
  • Special Prize of the Jury 2005

Almost all films which have been submitted to the 17th International Mountain & Adventure Film Festival show us the freedom of people in their different colourful aspects. Tibet is a land that has been excluded from these colours for many years. In a dramatic way we experience the patient and silent struggle of the Tibetans. By awarding this prize, the jury would like to make a clear statement in support of these fundamental human rights of men.

Wednesday, 09. Nov. 2005 from 18:00 in Schubertkino
