“Klettern am Limit – Die Huberbuam”
Climbing on rock and ice (), Malte Roeper (Deutschland/Germany) 43 min
The professional climbers Thomas and Alexander Huber have achieved what every young mountaineer dreams of: spectacular climbing successes all over the world and a world-wide reputation. Their father was an extreme climber himself and thus the great ideal in their youth. He is the one of the narrators of this film portrait as is their mother, whose enthusiasm about the dangerous life of her sons is limited. This is understandable when you see the breathtaking shots showing their climbing “on the edge”: Alexander’s solo climbs in the Dolomites and on the “Schleier” waterfall in Tyrol, Thomas’ successful expeditions to India and Pakistan and their spectacular speed-ascent of the “Zodiac route” on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, California.

Awards:
- Kamera Alpin in Gold 2005
In a capturing way, this film provides an insight into the limits of climbing, especially to non-experts. The story focuses on the two Huber brothers who, although still young, can already easily look back at a rich climbing and mountaineering career. Good editing and good direction let us easily understand their world.
